COMPOSITIONS

Nicholas has cultivated a unique musical style, making use of extended techniques and focussing on elements of contemporary exploration within his compositions and performances. He also specialises in composing swing and folk music, still utilising improvisation to evolve his ideas into complex and challenging pieces. Over the years, Nicholas has composed many works including orchestral and choral works and contemporary flute music.

In April 2022, Nicholas was a finalist of the Syrinx International Competition in the Composition category for his piece Flute Stomp. This piece also gained 2nd place in the Flute Flight competition.

Nicholas is currently composing: a solo flute work and a contemporary piece about the sounds of a printer.
